Type-Rating Test Requirements
These tests are designed to demonstrate the pilot's knowledge of the aircraft's vital statistics and specifications to ensure safe and comfortable flying for Freeworld passengers. The pilot requirements for the test may include:
- Detailed knowledge of the performance/limitations of the aircraft (eg. reference speeds, climb/descent rate, cruise level and fuel requirements for efficient operation etc.)
- Planning an IFR flight complete with specifications such as weight, fuel, weather, flight plan with SID / STAR etc.
A separate type rating will be issued for each aircraft family (eg. separate exams will not be needed for A320 and A319). As with other exams, a minimum delay will be enforced both between re-attempting a rating after a fail, and between successive type rating tests in different aircraft.
- Some type rating examinations may require a practical examination.
The written tests and details on whether practical examinations are required will be posted to the Training Forum and may change over time. Questions about these type ratings should be posted to the training forum or discussed with your instructor.
